“Using Virtual World Technologies to Teach Ethics”

About

Students in an engineering ethics and a government course are concurrently using a virtual world to learn about both engineering and legal issues, and ethical dilemmas in these disciplines. The project builds on a previous FIT project and requires students to spend an extended time in a more realistic virtual world that is modeled after an actual site--the South Hill neighborhood in Ithaca. Students learn about the physical problem and explore contrasting approaches to professional ethics by assuming different stakeholder roles surrounding the issues.
