“Enhancing Musical Dialogue and Instruction”


Most music students, and their instructors, do not take advantage of newer solid-state portable recording mechanisms for learning. This poses a problem when students are asked to reflect upon their performances. In short, students in these situations do not know why and how to assess their performance. By obtaining a set of these solid-state recorders, and determining a repository for sharing and feedback, this project will bridge that gap in the student-teacher relationship in the performing arts. Students will be able to record their rehearsals and performances, in both ensemble and solo work, and send them to their instructors for feedback. This project expands this relationship and moves the learning outside of the lesson-studio and into every performance venue of the students.
