“Resources for Writing Instructors”

Elliot Shapiro

The Knight Writing Institute has an archive of course materials created in prior years by faculty and graduate students, and examples of award-winning student work. These are useful as models for developing course materials, and new teaching assistants can now access these materials online. Cataloging and providing online access to this set of materials was the goal of this project.

For this project we experimented with several solutions, finally deciding on using the institutional repository provided by the Cornell University Library. The eCommons@Cornell provides a hosting environment with searchable metadata and the ability, when necessary, to impose restrictions on use.
